Video + Pics from the debut live AV show in SF

I recently debuted my live audio visual show at The Independent in San Francisco.

For the past few months, while I’ve been working on the Welder album, I’ve been consulting with a couple friends and researching like mad to start developing a live Eskmo visual show. Up to this point I’ve been performing all my own material live, but I wanted to push it further. With some help, I’ve figured out a system where I’m using 2 laptops, one running Ableton, doing all my regular triggering, tweeking of sounds and manipulating stuff, but now that also triggers the 2nd laptop running VDMX. This way the visuals are synched exactly with what I’m doing on stage. If you have caught me lately, you’ll know that I’m also doing various bits of live percussion, “foley” looping and vocal bits. I’m excited to see how it all develops.

Often times while performing I’m placed into “party” scenarios with “party” visuals, lighting and everything that comes along with it. That’s not really where I’m coming from. Celebration, sure…but “party”, no. I plan on continuing to push the visual element of the whole show as it’s helping me to communicate the intention I have behind my music. Below is a short teaser video and photos from the night. Stay Tuned…

Your incredible sounds needs (the right) visuals like fish needs water. Glad to see you are moving into the performance art arena. Can’t wait to experience the final result.

It’s very interesting to see your evolution against that of many others in this area of music. I like what you said about how you aren’t really about the ‘party;’ it seems like everyone is hopping on that bandwagon. Your music is much more unique and timeless, and I find myself constantly coming back to it, finding new little bits of sound that I hadn’t noticed before, and loving the variety of rhythms.

Keep doing what you’re doing.

I moved too Kauai Island of Hawaii, And I had just herd your first pressing.. I wa getting sick of the wobble wobble sound. So everyone I came across with i would tell them about you and where to buy your stuff or maybe a soundcloud teaser But encouraging people to buy your craft just you and a couple other name have changed into your own sound outside the box and I dig that. “Now – such is progress – the old men work, the old men copulate, the old men have no time, no leisure from pleasure, not a moment to sit down and think – or if ever by some unlucky chance such a crevice of time should yawn in the solid substance of their distractions, there is always soma, delicious soma, half a gramme for a half-holiday, a gramme for a week-end, two grammes for a trip to the gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon; returning whence they find themselves on the other side of the crevice, safe on the solid ground of daily labour and distraction, scampering from feely to feely, from girl to pneumatic girl, from Electromagnetic Golf course to…”
